The Event 賽事性質

The Olympic Games is the most acclaimed multi-sport games held once in every four years.  The upcoming Olympic Games is to be held from 8th to 24th August 2008 at Beijing, China while the competition dates of table tennis is from 13^th to 23^rd August 2008.  There are “Singles” and “Team” events for both men and women.  Only the first 20 players (men & women) on the world ranking list are automatically qualified for the “Singles” event.  The rest of players have to compete in their respective continental qualifying tournaments in order to secure entry to the Games.  It is expected that this event will feature top Asian players and the competition will be very keen.

奧運會乃四年一次的體壇最高盛事，下屆將於2008年8月8日至24日在中國北京舉行。在乒乓球項目方面，除在世界排名榜內位列首二十名之男子及女子球員可直接獲得參加2008北京奧運的單打項目資格外，其他球員則需參加所屬各大洲的外圍賽，以爭取參賽的資格。屆時，各亞洲頂級球手將會來港參賽，為爭奪奧運入場券而進行連番激戰。
