In the afternoon of the 8th of March 2008
Wang Nan of China found her top form to defeat local
favorite Zhang Rui from Hong Kong to qualify for the
2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Overcoming what many felt to
be a shock loss the previous night Wang took little time
to become the 3rd female qualifier from the
Asian Continental Group to qualify for the 2008 Games,
winning 4 games to 0.
It was also a joyous day for Japan who in the 4th
qualification position Haruna Fukuoka defeated North
Korean Kim Jong with the same score line and now becomes
the 3rd Japanese female to qualify for the
2008 Olympic Games.
