All’s Well That Ends Well, Ma Long and Ryu Seung Min Book Olympic Places  

Defeats for China’s Ma Long and Korea’s Ryu Seung Min earlier in the day had sent shockwaves through the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.

The player, who for the past nine months, had swept all before and had risen to the no.1 spot on the Men’s World Rankings had been beaten by Japan’s 17 year old Koki Niwa; whilst Ryu Seung Min, the man who in 2004 had proudly worn the most valuable medal of all had lost the local boy, Leung Chu Yan.
　

Man for the Big Occasion, Koki Niwa Beats Ma Long, Secures Olympic Place  

China’s Ma Long, the player who stands at the top of the current Men’s World Ranking list and Korea’s Ryu Seung Min, the 2004 Olympic champion, were both sensationally beaten at the semi-final stage of the Men’s event at the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Hong Kong on Saturday 21st April 2012.

In the matches to determine the first two players to gain their passports to London, Ma Long was beaten by Japan’s 17 year old Koki Niwa currently listed at no.18 on the Men’s World Rankings; whilst Ryu Seung Min lost to Hong Kong’s Leung Chu Yan.

2012 奧運乒乓球亞洲區外圍賽今日(4月21日)於香港伊利沙伯體育館進行第三天賽事，港將梁柱恩神勇大爆發，在四強賽爆冷以4﹕2力挫韓將柳承敏，不但歷史性首次擊敗該名前奧運金牌得主，並以五戰全勝姿態提前奪得額外名額，登上倫敦奧運「尾班車」。

Top Named Men Progress but Problems for Highly Rated Women in Hong Kong

2012 奧運乒乓球亞洲區外圍賽今日(4月20日)於香港伊利沙伯體育館展開男、女子次階段賽事，在首階段以兩戰全勝小組首名晉級的港將梁柱恩今日大發神威，先後擊敗朝鮮金成南及印度球手高斯，明日(周六)2時45分若能成功挑戰前奧運金牌得主柳承敏便可以提前奪得額外名額，登上倫敦奧運「尾班車」。

Qualifiers for Second Stage Confirmed in Hong Kong

A place in the second stage of proceedings of the Women’s event, at the Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hong Kong was in doubt, until the concluding group matches had been completed on the evening of Thursday 19th April 2012.

At the end of the day, the smiles were on the faces of India’s Poulomi Ghatak, Malyasia’s Ng Sock Khim plus the Vietnamese duo of Nguyen Thi Viet Linh and Mai Hoang My Trang; nervous moments but their Olympic dreams remained alive.

Youth Olympic Champion on Course for Place at London Olympic Games 

Gold medallist at the Youth Olympic Games in August 2010, Japan’s Koki Niwa has made a splendid start to achieving his goal of being present in the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic Games.

He remained unbeaten on the opening day of competition, Thursday 19th April 2012, at the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Hong Kong.

2012 奧運乒乓球亞洲區外圍賽今日(4月19日)於香港伊利沙伯體育館展開首階段賽事，港將梁柱恩今午先以4﹕1反勝伊朗球手羅霍拉拿撒，後以4﹕0輕取中華台北李佳陞，以兩戰全勝佳績取得Ｂ組首名出線資格，晉身16 強。

2012 奧運乒乓球亞洲區外圍賽明日(4月19日)於香港伊利沙伯體育館上演，來自各亞洲頂級球手，包括乒壇「一哥」馬龍及京奧女單銅牌得主郭躍，以及雅典奧運男單金牌得主的韓國名將柳成敏、日本好手丹羽孝希及平野早矢香等已雲集香江，準備在為期四日的外圍賽中，爭逐7男7女的最後入圍名額，以趕上倫敦奧運的「尾班車」。

2012倫敦奧運將今年7月27日至8月12日於英國倫敦舉行，而香港乒乓球總會將會主辦2012 奧運乒乓球亞洲區外圍賽，賽事將於4月19至22日假香港伊利沙伯體育館上演，屆時各亞洲頂級球手將會雲集香江，爭逐7男7女的最後入圍名額，以趕上倫敦奧運的「尾班車」。
