System of Play

 Stage II

Twelve players will qualify for the second stage of the tournament.

I.    Scenario 1 (8 groups)

·               Players finishing 1st in their group are placed in Draw A, in positions corresponding to one of their original group (see attached diagram).

·               Winners of the extra qualifying match for the 2nd placed players will be joined with the losers of the first round of Draw A to form Draw B.  A full progressive knockout will then be played by these 8 players to determine qualifying positions 3 to 12.

II.   Scenario 2 (4 groups)

·               Players finishing 1st and 2nd in their group are placed in Draw A, in positions corresponding to one of their original group (see attached diagram).

·               Players finishing 3rd in their group will be joined with the losers of the first round of Draw A to form Draw B.  A full progressive knockout will then be played by these 8 players to determine qualifying positions 3 to 12.

For both scenarios 1 and 2, the first and second placed players of Draw A will be the first two qualifiers  (Q1 and Q2)

The third and fourth placed players of Draw A will join the first and second placed players of Draw B to form Draw C.  The two winners of Draw C will be the third and fourth qualifiers (Q3 and Q4).

The third to sixth placed players of Draw B will form Draw D.  The two winners of Draw D will join the losers of Draw C to form Draw E.  The two winners of Draw E will be the fifth and sixth qualifiers (Q5 and Q6).

The seventh and eighth placed players of Draw B will join the losers of Draw D to form draw F.  The two losers of Draw E and the two winners of Draw F will form Draw G.  The two winners of Draw G will play each other to determine the seventh and eighth qualifiers (Q7 and Q8).

The two losers of Draw F and the two losers of Draw G will form Draw H.  The two winners of Draw H will play each other to determine the ninth and tenth qualifier (Q9 and Q10), while the two losers of Draw H will play each other to determine the eleventh and twelfth qualifiers (Q11 and Q12).

When the number of final qualifying players is known, the remaining players, in qualifying order, will be substitutes.
