The ITTF Pro Tour is a series of Open International Championships held in several continents, at which players accumulate points to qualify for the Pro Tour Grand Finals at the end of the calendar year.  Prior to this Grand Finals, players have to take part in the Pro-Tour consisting of 16 international open competitions The top 16 men's singles, 16 women's singles, 8 men's doubles pairs and 8 women's doubles pairs who have accumulated the largest number of points at ITTF Pro Tour events during 2006 will be invited to participate in the 2006 Volkswagen Pro Tour Grand Finals.
